VIDEOGRAPHY

Amongst the Spheres (2022)

Video of the installation 'Amongst the Spheres' 2022 using textured flooring to create a new environment where spheres are sprawled organically on the surface.

Amongst the Spheres (2022)

An artist book using MDF wood, acrylic paint, texture paste and steel sheets where images are transfered. The words ‘SKELETON’ , ‘SKIN AND BONE’ and ‘SKIN AND BONE EXPERIENCE’ relate to the common theme of self identity I was exploring throughout my practice. The cube in its original form is MDF wood, closely related to nature it is then covered in different textures to create the “skin” on the cube. The cube then experiences a natural landscape through photography interpretations. We are all made of the same material; skin and bones yet our experience of life creates who we are as individuals whether that be through nature or nurture .

Dormant Cube on Video (2022)

As moss dries it does not perish and is actually dormant. Through the video an elevating piano sound plays as the moss is rehydrated through water spray. The moss cube begins dormant and finishes alive.

Deconstructed Construction (2022)

Using brown noise to elevate the anxiety and space taken by the cube being built up and broken down. The concept of how much space the outline of a cube actually takes is explored through this video.

Maman et les Rideaux (2022)

A stop motion video representing the individual and how the environment we are in changes our behaviour.

The Cube (2022)

A complete exploration of the steel cube created to confront the notion of space and place. Where does it belong? The eerie emotion of the cube being placed amongst trees and nature makes you believe it does not belong there, but why? At the beginning of The Cubes life it was created using raw materials in order to create the steel sheets that were welded together: coming from natural resources. Although The Cube returns to nature it appears to be wrong and out of place: the manmade nature of the cube throws off the balance that appears in the natural world.

So where does The Cube belong?

Floating Cube (2021)

Exploring the concept of space and form through a wire and tool cube. The cube appears to be a solid shape however at the same time it produces a weightless property.

Brush Strokes (2021)

This short film explores the act of mark making, manipulating it in different ways. Black paint is an unforgiving, confrontational and harsh tone which can be intimidating when used in a painting, when painting a background I was entranced with the beauty of the marks. Confronting the unforgiving nature of the black brush stroke I decided to use canvas and wood panels to move around these brush marks, removing the power of the unforgiving nature of the tone. I decided to explore this concept of mark making through the idea of life and death; throughout life we create brush marks through our actions, some are permanent and can’t be moved around however some marks can be moved, manipulated and changed even though they still exist and still happened. At the end of our life we are left with a surface of marks that we created which depict our actions taken during our journey through the world, only once the individual has ceased to exist does their brush mark canvas end, emotions and experiences are left behind.

The Natural World (2021)

This short film looks is a reflection of the work created surrounding the theme of nature, life and death. This film acts as a summary in Loane's artistic approach throughout the year.
