Touch
2022
"Anything But Paint" Exhibition at Fronteer Gallery, Sheffield
October 13 - November 04 2022

'Touch' 2022 was created as a discussion of the walls between us. The untouchable bronze sphere enclosed in the acrylic box creates an exclusiveness to the sphere making the viewer question as to why the sphere is enclosed in the box. The bronze sphere as a simple shape represents our being; a complete whole with qualities and the acrylic box represents the mask we put on in society to hide certain parts of us we deem to be private. The bronze sphere itself as a non-fragile material (bronze) is contrasted with the fragile patination that when moved around can be chipped away. This was due to the difficulty of the bronze capturing the copper-sulphate material that allow it to be patinated. This gives the sculpture a decaying - time and space sensitive quality which emphasises the delicate and precious appearance of the sphere.

The exhibition "Anything But Paint" that took place at the Fronteer Gallery in Sheffield was a celebration of all art work outside the realm of 2D painting. There was a multitude of multi media approaches presented throughout the gallery . 'Touch' 2022 exhibited well within the white walls of the gallery space as its vibrant turquoise tones were highlighted by the exhibition space.
